So, I haven't updated in a while between family visiting here and me going there and breaking my fingers it's been a while.

I also volunteer at a shelter and a lady brought in a baby cottontail bunny.....No one should ever believe that they are abandoned or try to "help" them. Unless you are positive momma is dead she's around somewhere, or if your pet has brought it to you and you don't know where the nest is leave it alone!!! My momma instincts activated (it's like a superpower) and I volunteered to try and make "him" live till he was big enough to be released. I have had "him" four days and so far so good! He's been drinking the formula from a syringe and this morning he ate some fresh greens from my yard.  But that is a total anomaly, there is a 90% fatality rate in cottontail bunnies if brought in to "rehabilitate"! They can die of fright very easily and the tiny ones with their eyes still closed need their mom for the good bacteria to make their tummies work.  So far Peter Cottontail is doing well and I will be releasing him once he is eating solid food.  It is illegal to keep wild bunnies in Nevada and the only reason I have him is because the Animal Control supervisor allowed it.
He's put on weight since I took these. This was Tuesday.
I don't have more pictures at this time because I don't handle him except to feed him. I don't want to tame him I just want him to live.

I haven't stopped working on my projects though.

So here she is with hair. and her hat.
 Another one
I had to take her hair off to paint her face.....

Trying a wing shape..... And straight hair.
 And another adjusted her hat...

 Back view
Front view.....
Now I am going to try to root her hair.  I just don't like the way it sits right now and then I will curl it again. I just use pipe cleaners on damp hair and it seems to work great, at lease with mohair.

Just started this little guy this morning!  His name is Sunshine, cause everyone needs a little sunshine  in their lives:)
One wing kinda done at least for now....
Both wings set but a little lop sided on the right.
Both wings set now to let the clay sit for a bit till I can shape them a little more:)

So that is it for now more fun to come!!!!

I haven't been on in a while.  I have been working on my Cowgirl Angel.  Here is what she looks like now. I have to work on her face there are some things I need to fix and I am also working on what I will do for wings. My daughter wants me to use real feathers but I am not sure about that. LOL But my angel is coming together slowly but surely.

"I've been working on my eyeballs all the live long dayyyy"LOL
So Here are some pictures of my eyeballs, I know it's weird to say that but it is funny too.
 Painted but no resin yet
First drop of resin for the iris getting cured with the UV light
A look at them in the UV light
With the second coat of resin all cured and ready to clean up
See how the first drop of resin makes a bubble over the iris?

Getting ready to clean them up

Since I made and extra single I decided to put a gem in it to see how it looked

Up close dark blue

All cleaned up in pairs on tape, it keeps the pairs together.

All the different colors

Closer

All of my eyeballs ready to go.

Now I can work on my angels face:)

So, I have the flu but have been kinda working on stuff too.  When I am not napping lol.

So here are the new eyes I worked on this week.

This is the beginning of the work. I made them with a mold I made for a ball jointed doll I am working on and this was the size for the arms and neck piece.  Then I used a nail head to make the first indentations. After that I used a ball head tool to make a second indentation in the middle for the pupil area as I have a hard time doing circles for them. I then baked them in the oven.

Then I used Genenis Heat set paints once they were cooled off (the next day) and mixed different colors to create the eye color. I dried the paint with a heat gun and again let them rest for a day (me too since I am sick). I then tried different techniques to make the black pupil on all of them. Some I had to touch up some I didn't. I again dried it with a heat gun. Then yesterday I got a new set of paint brushes I ordered off of eBay. They are made for painting fingernails but they work fine for the paints and I touched up some colors and added a darker edge around the iris like most eyes have. This morning I used a block nail file to clean up the areas on the outside to make them more even and baked them again. Once they cool completely I will add the resin to the eyes and take pictures of the process as well.

So I am not used to this blog stuff so I haven't been putting stuff on here. I guess I should do an update on what I am currently doing.

I am working on a Cowgirl Angel sculpt. I am hoping to put it in the local gallery. They don't do the fantasy, fairy, dragon type things there so I figured I would do a Cowgirl Angel.

She is coming together.

I have also been working on weaving on my loom and learning how to spin yarn on a drop spindle I made. So I will do another update when I get more done on the angel.

My Mermaid taking a bubble bath because she lives in the desert.

This is a wood elf with his bow.

This is my winter fairy. She is designed to be hung surrounded by snowflakes and she is reaching for the perfect one.
This is a distance photo of her now she has clear line attached to her so so appears to be flying.

This gentleman is inspired by Edward the Troll from Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters. I made his clothes from leather I had on hand and the pants and tank top are felt I also had on hand.

Here is a full body shot of him. I think he turned out really well.

This is Masquerade. She is dressed in her ball gown ready to go to a party. The top half of her is polymer clay and the bottom half under the skirt of her gown is made from a metal basket.

Here she is with her mask. Once the mask is painted it will resemble a human face.

This sweet little girl was made for my daughter who has an obsession with elephants.

All the eyes on my creations, other than the Mermaid which I painted, were made by me this is the second step of the process of making the eyes. In this step I have created the balls of the eyes with white clay mixed with translucent clay to give them a more realistic look. Once the balls of clay are made I used the flat part of a nail head to make the indentations and then I bake them. After they cool I paint the eye color with heat set paint by Genesis. These that are painted are green but you can do any color in your imagination! I set the paint with a heat gun.

These are completed eyes I have made.

This is the product I use to make the eyes. This stuff needs to be cured in UV light which I have done in basic sunlight outside, it cannot be cured through a window, which I have an abundance of where I live. I ended up buying a UV light of the same brand to cure them faster. The eyes need a two step process. First is  drop of this in the indentation of the eye so it bumps up like a real iris does on a real eye.  They must sit for a short while to make sure all of the bubbles if any rise to the top. The bubbles then can be removed prior to curing. It is important to let the bubbles rise because if the eyes is cured with bubbles in them you will not want to use them with eyes unless you use them in a specific sculpture. They are then cured until firm and done. Then once its cured I place another drop on the "eye" and let in run over the edges of the eye. It's okay to be a little messy though you don't want to waste too much resin. Then it is cured once more. You can gently trim the resin that has run over but you must use a very sharp Xacto knife to to this to prevent cracking of the resin.
